Always Learning & Growing

Prepping for the annual Wildflower Seed Stomp! Each student makes and disperses seed balls on campus and in the back prairie! The seed balls are a mix of water, compost, sandy clay loam, and wildflower seed blends best suited for our central Texas hill country ecosystem!

Havenwood students drawing different leaf shapes that they find while exploring the woods on campus. Drawing helps with hand dexterity and searching for unique leaves strengthens their visual attention.

Havenwood students strolling through the gardens on their way back to class. Our gardens attract a wide variety of birds, butterflies, grasshoppers, and more, which the students can admire up close or from a distance.

At Havenwood Nature School, we love mud days! Kids get to learn about the weather cycle, annual rainfall in Dripping Springs, and most importantly explore different textures while playing with friends!

A glimpse into our Nature Class, where our older students did some wild foraging, taste-testing cactus pads (nopales) and prickly pear fruit (tunas) while learning about safe harvesting and the nutritional benefits of plants.

Art for everyone! Our youngest Havenwood students get to explore their sense of touch while learning about geometry and colors with this creative and mess free activity! 🎨

The freeze in central Texas brought down several tree branches. While we were sad to see the damage, our students used this opportunity to learn about the oak’s colorful companions - Lichens!

Every time it rains enough to make mud, we poll our students at Havenwood and the findings are always the same. 100% of survey respondents agree that mud days are the best days!
